School Politics, the Old Guard and the New Room Parent
School politics can wear a room parent out faster than the party. A room mom can plan the snack and still get stuck between the parents who have always done it this way and the ones who just got here.
The old guard knows the closet, the signup, and the teacher's first name. The new parent knows none of that and still got handed the clipboard. Neither one is the villain. The exhausting part is when the way it was done last year becomes a test you can fail.
You can be kind and still not take the extra meeting. Ask the teacher what this class needs. Do that. Thank the person who did it before you, then stop defending yourself in the group chat. Respect is saying the quiet part once, in a normal voice: I heard you, and this is what the teacher asked for.
The kids are the reason any of this is worth it. They are little for a short time, and they do not care who ran the party in 2019. Laugh about the politics later. Let it out here. Then go back to the room.
